Local business receives Medford Vacant Storefront Grant
Grants enable local businesswoman to move into a larger space in Medford.
The City of Medford has awarded its first Medford Vacant Storefront Grant to Skin by Terry, a woman- and minority-owned small business in Medford Square that specializes in esthetic services. Through the program, owner Terry Gavin will be able to move her growing business into a larger space at 16 Bradlee Road.
Gavin will receive a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) of $10,000, and that grant will be matched by a refundable tax credit of $10,000 through the Massachusetts Economic Advisory Coordinating Council (EACC) state-wide vacant storefront program.
"This program is a win-win for our local economy,” Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn said in a press release. “Small businesses can grow as longtime vacant storefronts are filled, helping our business districts flourish. On behalf of the City, we hope that Skin by Terry’s success will encourage other businesses to take advantage of this program.”
The program aims to support one additional business in Fiscal Year 2025 (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025). Applications for this round will be accepted on a rolling basis. For information, visit www.medfordma.org/vacant-storefronts.
