This week, the city created a Keep Medford Beautiful chapter and is looking for steering committee members to help lead this group, announced Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn.
Keep Medford Beautiful is a community effort to organize local volunteers interested in cleaning up and beautifying Medford’s public spaces.
The mission of the chapter is to instill accountability through action and foster social responsibility by urging residents to not litter and pick up litter when they see it. This will be a volunteer-led organization that works alongside the Department of Public Works, the Mayor’s Office, other municipal leaders, and local businesses.
The steering committee will be made up of five members. These committee members will develop the Medford chapter, collaborate with local stakeholders, and organize cleanups and other events. Apply to the steering committee here.
“We are excited to create this community-led Keep Medford Beautiful chapter committed to enhancing our public spaces and environmental health,” said Lungo-Koehn. “If this interests you, please apply to join our steering committee which will play an important role in organizing and shaping this group.”
“As a life-long North Medford resident and current Keep Massachusetts Beautiful Board of Directors member, I am beyond proud to be a part of establishing a Keep Medford Beautiful chapter. This exciting initiative further solidifies Medford’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship,” said Alison Beucler, Keep Massachusetts Beautiful Board of Directors Member. “Not only will this initiative keep our streets, parks, and neighborhoods beautiful, clean, and safe, but it will also promote a healthier environment for all. It’s a win-win for Medford community members and the local environment!”
There was no better time to develop the Medford chapter than now, considering the annual Citywide Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, April 19, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Keep Medford Beautiful is a chapter of Keep Massachusetts Beautiful, a nonprofit that is working to build cleaner, greener, litter-free communities across the state.
